WILLIE RANKIN FINDS THE POWER IN

Faith, fellowship and belonging can add years to your life. In the world’s original Blue Zones, belonging to a faith-based community and regularly attending services was shown to add from four to 14 years of life expectancy – no matter which faith.

PARTNERING TO SUPPORT SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVES

The normal “back-to-school” routine is anything but routine this year. School districts across Tarrant County differ greatly in terms of when they’ll start, in-class versus online options, and operating procedures. What hasn’t changed, however, is the need for school supplies. In fact, that need is greater than ever due to the economic impact COVID-19 has had on many families and schools having to shift more of their funding dollars to PPE items and safety initiatives.

COLLABORATION AND CONNECTIVITY DURING SOCIAL DISTANCING

Staying safe means maintaining physical distance during this difficult time, but social connections are more important than ever. Blue Zones Project Fort Worth is working with community partners to connect services, deliver necessary resources, and support both physical and social well-being under this new normal.

SCHOOL DISTRICTS, OTHERS PROVIDING MEALS

School districts across Tarrant County are making sure that children who rely on school meals don’t go hungry while schools are closed due to COVID-19 precautions. Many schools have gone to a twice a week delivery schedule. Per federal program requirements, parents may not pick up meals for children without their children being present. Children, however, will be issued meals if they arrive unaccompanied. All meals are pre-bagged, served in to-go fashion.

DISCOVER OR REDISCOVER YOUR PURPOSE

What’s your reason for getting out of bed in the morning? Studies show that people with a sense of purpose – a clear goal in life, or something to wake up for every morning -- are happier, more successful, and live longer. Nearly seven years longer. With purpose, you can also do more with less. That means cramming fewer activities into your already overcrowded schedule. Less stress to “get it all done.” More breathing room. And more time to focus on what matters most.
