ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES FOR ONLINE LEARNING
As the school year (and life in general) has been thrown a curve ball, we would like to offer some resources and ideas to support our community students and families academically, physically, and emotionally. We tip our hats to school districts for what they have done in the last few weeks to make sure that area students have everything they need, from food to technology and beyond. Keep up the great work, parents!
Make up for Lost PE and Recess Times
- Beachbody Kids Workouts are available for free while students are missing PE. Check them out on Vimeo here.
- Everyone’s favorite go-to for brain breaks, GoNoodle, is also available at home. Encourage students to get moving and get tips for off-screen activities from the Good Energy at Home
- If you are looking to engage your students with a daily post (or pose), sign up for Yoga 4 Classrooms to receive their “Mindful Activity of the Day.”
- Yogi Squad, started by FWISD educator and librarian Brooke Blakenship, combines books with yoga and music. Check out her videos or sign up for live sessions via Zoom.
Cooking for Life
Make the kitchen part of the classroom! Common Threads is offering nutrition and cooking curriculum online for free during the pandemic. Find games, recipes, and activities at Common Bytes.
Academic Resources
Keep students reading with these free resources:
- Audible- Free stories, for tots to teens.
- Learning A-Z- Known for their Raz-Kids leveled books and quizzes, the site is offering free resources through the end of the school year.
To keep math skills sharp while away from campus, steer students to the following for online learning:
Keep Growing!
A big shout out to all of the Garden Clubs and STEM Clubs out there! Here is an activity you can do at home: grow food with leftover food. No seeds are necessary. You can use leftover avocado, cilantro, onion, tomato, celery, or lettuce. Check out resources like this one from Don't Waste the Crumbs.
