Here’s a round-up of Blue Zones Project highlights happening in Fort Worth this July.

Neighborhoods 
Blue Zones Project is making healthy choices easier in the Eastside! Save the date to join us for a community kick-off at Tandy Hills Park, Saturday, July 30, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Tandy Hills Park! 

Congratulations to the newest Blue Zones Project Participating Organization, White Lake Hills Neighborhood Association. To achieve this designation, the neighborhood has formed several Walking and Potluck Moais and plan to continue their meet-ups.

Built Environment
In an effort to make fort worth more bike-friendly, the city of fort worth is planning enhancements for 10th street from fournier street to forest park. the improvements include installation of sidewalks and bike lanes, improvements to the pedestrian crossing at forest park and 10th street and will provide a connection to the trinity trails. visit fortworthtexas.gov/bikefw for more information on this plan and a map of proposed and existing routes, lanes, and trails.

Grocery
Blue Zones Project partnered with local organization, Strong on Health to lead a healthy grocery store tour at Approved grocery store, Kroger (12600 North Beach Street).  Attendees were guided by Dustin Strong through the store to learn about healthy shopping. 

Organizations and Community Engagement
In an effort to make healthy choices easier for parents, Blue Zones Project is now offering kid-friendly cooking demonstrations to help get children excited about eating healthier foods. New WIC and SNAP recipes are also available at these demonstrations to ensure that healthy eating is possible on a tight budget.

Worksites 
Congratulations to the newest Blue Zones Project Approved worksite, Fort Worth County Day! Fort Worth Country Day is the first grade school to become an Approved worksite in Fort Worth. 

Schools
Last month, the schools team hosted a Best Practice Summit for school leaders to network and share best practices. The Summit was held at Approved school, M.H. Moore, and attendees participated in breakout sessions on topics such as campus planning, school gardens, and the Walking School Bus program.
