An investment in well-being is paying off for Fidelity Investments. Fort Worth’s Westlake Campus of Fidelity Investments is now the largest investment services company in the nation to become a Blue Zones Project Approved™ worksite.
Blue Zones Project® is a community-led well-being improvement initiative making healthy choices easier in cities across the country. Working with municipal leaders, neighborhoods, employers, schools, restaurants, grocery stores, and faith-based organizations, Blue Zones Project helps optimize the environment for well-being. Thanks to the efforts of employers like Fidelity Investments, Fort Worth recently became the largest city in the nation to earn certification as a Blue Zones Community®.
“Fidelity Investments is committed to being a great place to work and providing benefits and programs designed to help our employees thrive, including those that promote their health and wellness,” said Jennifer Gray, community relations manager for Fidelity Investments. “Blue Zones Project aligns with those goals and gives us the framework to take our well-being efforts to the next level.”
To become Blue Zones Project Approved, Fidelity Investments expanded its existing well-being program, known as Well for Life, and completed the Blue Zones Project Worksite Pledge—which lays out evidence-based actions a company can take to improve well-being of employees and customers.
For example, Fidelity Investments has a robust community volunteer program, known as Fidelity Cares, and has partnered with Blue Zones Project and Fort Worth ISD to make healthy choices easier for Dunbar High School students and faculty. The company encourages walking or standing meetings and regular microbreaks for employees to stretch and move. Fidelity Investments offers healthy snack and meal options and hosts plant-based cooking demonstrations. An on-site health and wellness center provides biometric screenings, as well as a resting room where employees can downshift, and a fitness center and walking trails by the company’s private lake help employees stay active.
“Workplaces have a tremendous impact on our overall well-being, and Fidelity Investments is raising the bar when it comes to creating an environment that supports healthy, happy employees,” said Matt Dufrene, vice president of Blue Zones Project, Fort Worth. “Employees with higher well-being perform better, and companies like Fidelity Investments find value in this program.”
Throughout Fort Worth, more than 300 businesses and organizations have joined the movement to better well-being, while 88,000 residents have taken the Blue Zones Personal Pledge or gotten involved in a Blue Zones Project activity.
