Children are full of energy, and for parents, it can be tiring just to keep up. So what if a child’s get-up-and-go leaves a parent feeling like their own energy got up and went?

Nancy Madamombe, who has worked for Blue Zones Project Approved™ worksite Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee as a quality assurance manager for the past three years, credits Blue Zones Project with helping her keep pace with her four-year-old daughter by eating better and moving more.

“I have always convinced myself I could never be fit,” Madamombe said. “The turning point came three months ago at a park with my daughter. I felt so drained chasing her around the jungle gym. I just wanted to sit down and do nothing, and I could see she was disappointed in me.”

Frustrated with herself as well, Madamombe realized she needed more energy. She decided to start eating right and get a personal trainer.

And the changes going on at Mother Parkers related to Blue Zones Project supported those efforts. “Because of the Blue Zones Project initiative, my company started bringing in healthier alternatives,” she said. “That, and learning healthier cooking and meal prep, really helped me change my eating habits for the better.”

Now, Madamombe is 15 pounds lighter, living heathy, feeling good, and no longer feeling drained.

“My daughter is my biggest cheerleader. She pushes me to go to the park and has started running with me,” Madamombe said. “She says, ‘Mommy, you can do this.’ And she’s right!”
