“Whether you’re an avid cyclist or a casual rider, Free First Fri-YAY offers a great way to stay active and explore Fort Worth,” said Matt Dufrene, vice president of NTHC. “You can commute to work or school on the city’s bike lanes, take care of errands, or just ride around Fort Worth’s network of trails. And if you’re riding with friends or loved ones, it’s another great way to boost well-being.”
Since it began in 2020, Free First Fri-YAY has provided over 1,600 free full-day ride passes. Fort Worth Bike Sharing now provides access to more than 390 bikes at 62 stations across the city, including 133 electric-assist bikes. Among the classic bikes are seven “bikesy” bikes featuring colorful, custom-painted designs by local artist Gerald Bell
“There are so many beautiful trails and neighborhoods to explore in Fort Worth and what better way to do that than cycling around this great city with friends and family?” said Shawn Tubre, director of Fort Worth Bike Sharing. “More and more people are discovering that cycling is a great transportation alternative, too, and this program makes our bikes more accessible to the community.”
NTHC is a well-being outreach arm of Texas Health Resources, the largest healthcare provider in North Texas, which implements Blue Zones Project in Tarrant County and other initiatives across the community.
