Individuals

The Neighborhoods team is actively working with churches and other faith-based organizations to reach Blue Zones Project Approved status. We will be partnering with the Women’s Ministries Luncheon on September 20, 2015, at University Christian Church where featured speaker Mayor Betsy Price will share information about Blue Zones Project and ways to get involved. Although this is a private event for Women’s Ministries, we encourage you to get involved and move naturally at the 2015 Crop Walk on that day. If your church is interested in engaging its congregation in healthier habits, please call us at 817-869-0900.

Schools

The new school year is off to a great start. The Walking School Bus program will kick off across Fort Worth on October 7, 2015, on International Walk to School Day. Community partners will volunteer to chaperone students on a safe walking route to school. If you would like to volunteer to walk with a school near you, please email BZPFWSchools@healthways.com.

Worksites

Congratulations to Cook Children’s Healthcare System, the fourth worksite to become Blue Zones Project Approved. Cook Children’s will be celebrated later this month during an interactive event where employees will learn more about Blue Zones Project engagement opportunities. More than 25 organizations are currently working toward this designation. If you are interested in getting your worksite involved, please contact BlueZonesProjectFortWorth@Healthways.com.

Participating Organizations

Blue Zones Project is partnering with organizations across Fort Worth to create healthier environments where we live, work, and play. Several organizations have completed the Organization Checklist this month.

Fairmount Neighborhood Association, Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce, Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Kids Who Care are now official Blue Zones Project Participating Organizations. Many other local organizations are in the process of completing the checklist, including the first Home Owner’s Association, Texas and Pacific Lofts, which will be recognized next month. By implementing healthy, evidence-based options, these organizations are helping to improve community well-being – making healthy choices easier.
