Free First Fri-YAY Rides in February Moved Back a Week Due to Winter Storm

Blue Zones Project and Fort Worth Bike Sharing are once again making it easy to move naturally by bringing back the popular Free First Fri-Yay bike share benefit in 2022. On the first Friday of every month, bike rentals are free for anyone looking for a fun way to explore the city on two wheels. But since below-freezing temperatures and potentially lingering ice and snow are forecast for this month’s free date, Blue Zones Project and Bike Sharing are showing the community some love by moving the date back a week to February 11.

Initial forecasts for the new date appear to be a bit more conducive for biking. To access a full-day bike sharing pass at no cost, riders can use promo code 92020 at any one of the 55 Fort Worth Bike sharing kiosks located around Fort Worth, or by using promo code 92020APP on the BCycle app.

Future Free First Fri-YAY dates (barring any more winter storms) are:

  • March 4
  • April 1
  • May 6
  • June 3
  • July 1
  • August 5
  • September 2
  • October 7
  • November 4
  • December 2

Since the program kicked off in 2020, 584 free full-day passes have been claimed. “The entire sharing system saw a record number of rides and users in 2021, and Free First Fri-Yay has proven to be really popular,” said Jennifer Grissom, executive director of Fort Worth Bike Sharing. “We added 12 new stations last year and plan to introduce 14 more in 2022.”

Whether you’re using a bike for errands, commuting or just having fun, you’re benefiting from natural movement, said Matt Dufrene, vice president of Blue Zones Project Fort Worth. “And group rides can give you stronger social and family connections. Free First Fri-Yay has given hundreds of residents the opportunity to boost their well-being and help make Fort Worth one of the healthiest cities in the nation.”
