Don’t Forget You

Who do you love? Take a moment and think about it. We bet you came up with one or more of the following: parents, siblings, grandparents, cousins, aunts & uncles, friends, children, spouse, significant other, etc.

Now, how many of you said yourself? If you didn’t, you’re not alone. It’s very common to only think of others when it comes to love. However, it’s okay to love yourself. It’s also necessary.

Cherese Jackson wrote in the Guardian Liberty Voice, “Many times when people think of love they immediately think outside but if a person does not love themselves it is nearly impossible to truly love another.”

Look at it as being a care-giver for a friend or family member who is sick. If you’re not getting enough rest, eating well, or taking time to yourself, you likely won’t be able to provide the best care to your loved one.

“A person’s sense of self-worth must come from who they are as opposed to who they are connected to,” Jackson said.

This doesn’t mean you should be selfish, it’s simply a matter of accepting you as you. Instead of focusing on the negative and things you’d like to change, focus on what’s good. We promise, there’s plenty!

Now, this also doesn’t mean you have to spend Valentine’s Day alone.  After all, we’re all about connecting! Celebrate with those you love, whether it be a friend or family member. Connect over a nice meal, go for a long walk, or try an activity everyone can enjoy. If you go out to dinner, try a Blue Zones Project Approved restaurant for a meal that’s good and good for everyone.

And be sure to check out what all is going on in Fort Worth here.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY TO YOU!
