SCHOOL DISTRICTS, OTHERS PROVIDING MEALS

School districts across Tarrant County are making sure that children who rely on school meals don’t go hungry while schools are closed due to COVID-19 precautions. Many schools have gone to a twice a week delivery schedule. Per federal program requirements, parents may not pick up meals for children without their children being present. Children, however, will be issued meals if they arrive unaccompanied. All meals are pre-bagged, served in to-go fashion.

DISCOVER OR REDISCOVER YOUR PURPOSE

What’s your reason for getting out of bed in the morning? Studies show that people with a sense of purpose – a clear goal in life, or something to wake up for every morning -- are happier, more successful, and live longer. Nearly seven years longer. With purpose, you can also do more with less. That means cramming fewer activities into your already overcrowded schedule. Less stress to “get it all done.” More breathing room. And more time to focus on what matters most.

BLUE ZONES PROJECT TEAMS WITH TOM THUMB TO SUPPORT LITERACY

Customers with young children can now borrow a book at the entrance of some area Tom Thumb grocery stores for children to enjoy while they shop. But the books aren’t just to entertain children. The books were intentionally selected to engage and educate children about the many things they might see while in a grocery store – particularly healthy fruits and vegetables, where food comes from, and the importance of those who provide our food. Some books also cover mindfulness, another topic that is important to well-being, especially in children. The books are available for a variety of age levels -- even picture books for the youngest shoppers.

HEALTHY SCHOOL PANTRY OPENS AT DAGGETT MIDDLE

Daggett Middle School is breaking new ground in the effort to offer more healthy food options to Fort Worth ISD students and families. With the help of Blue Zones Project, Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB), and Fidelity Investments, Daggett is now offering a healthy food pantry right on campus, a first-of-its kind effort for the school district.

ADOPT AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
