Thai is Fun Recognized Participating Organization Celebration
Goi was first introduced to the original Blue Zones research by watching the “Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones” Netflix documentary series. Soon after, she met the Executive Director of Blue Zones Project Monterey County and was delighted to learn that ThaiIsFun (Thai cooking class) has been promoting healthy eating, which is aligned with the Power 9 Principles of Healthy Living.
Goi began her partnership with the Blue Zones project by hosting the BZPMC Food Environment team for a Thai Cooking class in November 2023. Goi attended a BZPMC cooking demonstration in November 2023 and led a cooking demonstration for a Monterey worksite the following month.
Goi includes several plant-based recipes in her menu and accommodates vegan and vegetarian diets. In her classes, Goi encourages natural movement by leading stretching exercises before class and getting students involved in the preparation of the dishes. Thai Is Fun became a Recognized Participating Organization on March 12, 2024. The recognition was celebrated with friends, family, and BZPMC staff on March 29, 2014. Blue Zones Project Monterey County is thrilled to have Thai is Fun join the community of recognized participating organizations promoting wellbeing in our county.
