Meet Blue Zones Project Champion, Michele Cadiente-Cargo
Meet Blue Zones Project® Champion Michele Cadiente-Cargo, and her two kids Macey and Connor Dane, who joined the Rebound Hawaii Walking Moai in Kapolei-‘Ewa.
"I found out about the Rebound Hawaii Walking Moai from Heavenly Liua of Rebound Hawaii. Heavenly and I are in the same BNI group (Business Networking International). During one of her weekly presentations, she mentioned this walking group and it caught my attention. I asked her about it, when it starts, where it meets, etc. [I] brought my kids with me to the first meeting at Rebound Hawaii and the rest is history.
"I like to get my kids, Macey and Connor Dane, involved in things like this. My husband works nights so not able to join us. Before we went to the first meeting, I didn't tell my kids it was a 10-week project. While we were at the first meeting, it was mentioned that it was for 10 weeks, my kids were surprised and said, 'Mom, you didn't tell us that.' I told them, "never mind and just keep listening.
"We come back every week because we enjoy being part of the group, it doesn't cost anything, it's simple enough to do, it's a nice time of the day to go for a walk and it gets us out of the house. Most importantly, it teaches my kids about commitment. We pledged to do 10 weeks and we will stick to our word. Now, the kids remind me and each other the night before that tomorrow is Blue Zones and they get their Blue Zones [Project] shirts out and ready for the next day. If the walking moai continues beyond the 10 weeks, we plan to continue with it. [We are] so thankful to Rebound Hawaii for hosting and for being such a great community partner in introducing us to Blue Zones Project! Love it!"
