Hawai‘i Island food policy summit 2018
On September 11, 2018, Hawai‘i Island came together to discuss a shared vision for their future food self-sufficiency and local food supply.
Food security was the anchor for the conversations. From there, all participants from agriculture to resale folks generated ideas and methods of ways to bolster food security. There are many challenges, but the group worked diligently to identify steps to move forward with this “Big Idea for the Big Island.”
Carol Ignacio, Government and Community Affairs Manager — Blue Zones Project - Hawai‘i, was a brilliant host, and as her nature got everyone to participate with honesty and openness. This day will be pivotal in the framing of conversations to propel Hawai‘i Island toward food security. Mahalo for all who helped to support this amazing work!
