Last week, I shared Secret #1 to better health and happiness from Gladys McGarey, MD and her book “The Well-Lived Life: A 103-Year-Old Doctor’s Six Secrets to Health and Happiness at Every Age.”
Secret #1: Each of us is here to connect with our unique gifts; this is what activates our desire to be alive. Dr. Gladys refers to this secret as the “juice” or “purpose.” She sites Blue Zones research regarding the power of purpose and how it can impact our lives, creating more happiness and well-being.
Secret #2:
Dr. Gladys’ second secret is that “All life needs to move. Life itself is always in movement, so aligning with our lifeforce means that we must always look for flow within us.” Finding our flow.
When I am in the life’s flow, life is simply easier. Even faced with life challenges I can connect to a deeper understanding that there is a reason or lesson in the challenging experience. This knowing can even help to soften some of those challenges. I sense that I may be stepping into a new awareness that will bring a deeper connection spiritually, personally and with others.
The pains I may feel can be lessened when I remember the flow of life’s everchanging moments. Remembering that, this too shall pass. Embracing the flow of life to me means embracing faith and trust in a higher power - something bigger than ourselves. Knowing there is a divine plan for me unfolding.
Everything, good and bad, painful or joyful is all part of my journey. Fighting that flow can only bring more pain, anxiety, worry, fear and sadness. I choose to embrace the journey fully - all the hills and valleys. I will not worry about the destination. I will embrace the moments and the sheer exhilaration of life flowing through me and out into others and the world. I can see the connection and own my part in life’s flow. I am here for a purpose. I have something to share. I believe if we are in our flow, we are intrinsically connected to our deeper sense of purpose.
Find your flow. Embrace your journey. Live in your purpose.
