Arthrex

To become a Blue Zones Project Approved worksite, Arthrex created a wellness committee that included representation from all departments. Arthrex also developed a campaign to educate employees about the benefits of Blue Zones Project’s Power 9® principles—habits shared by the world’s longest living people. Those principles include moving naturally, eating with a plant slant, and having a healthy social circle. The company’s goal was to get 25 percent of employees committed to living a healthier lifestyle, and they reached 37 percent.

In addition to the awareness campaign, Arthrex brought a farmer’s market on site on a bimonthly basis to provide healthy, fresh produce options for employees. The company also worked with its culinary staff at all locations to serve a plant-based meal once a week and started Walking Moais® ,small groups of individuals who walk together to remain active.

“Arthrex is proud to be named a Blue Zones Project Approved worksite,” stated Monica Dubroja, wellness coordinator. “After receiving the American Heart Association’s Platinum Award for being a fit-friendly worksite for the past few years, this was the natural next step. We’ve created a culture of health in the workplace through progressive leadership and employee wellness initiatives. Becoming a Blue Zones Project Approved worksite is part of our wellness journey, aligning our efforts with the community.”

Sakura

To earn Blue Zones Project approval, SIMG_2189.jpgakura Hawaiian Grill began offering healthier items on its menu such as a green bean salad and brown rice power bowl, with grilled and sautéed options and smaller portions at reduced prices. In addition, Sakura sources produce from a local farm. “As the only local Hawaiian cuisine offered in Naples, Sakura Hawaiian Grill is excited to earn this distinction in helping our community to make healthy choices easier,” said Paul Chen, owner of Sakura Hawaiian Grill. “Creating Blue Zones inspired meals has been a fun way to be part of building a healthier community.”

Ginsberg Eye

IMG_1914.jpgTo increase well-being in his ophthalmology practice, Dr. Barrett Ross Ginsberg and his staff implemented the Power 9® principles, commonalities found in Blue Zones areas around the globe that increase longevity. By incorporating the Power 9® principle of “Right Tribe” into the daily routine of the medical practice, the staff developed lasting friendships and trust. By establishing these strong relationships, they hope that the core team at the practice will remain consistent over the years, as this helps to ensure that patients feel comfortable and want to recommend the practice to others. In addition to having a Right Tribe, the staff regularly visits the NCH Farmers market to buy fruits and vegetables,  participate in walking Moais®, and host Wine at 5 events.

Tidewater by Del Webb

Tidewater by Del Webb joined Blue Zones Project to inspire residents of the 55-and-up community to eat healthier, live longer, and embrace new experiences. To become Blue Zones Project recognized, the community offered a variety of social, educational, and fitness activities to fully engage residents in the next chapter of their lives. From walking Moais® and plant-based cooking demonstrations to pickleball and Wine at 5 events, the robust opportunities available to their residents inspire them to live life to the fullest.

Moorings Park

To achieve Blue Zones Project recoIMG_2222.jpggnition, Moorings Park integrated Blue Zones Project’s Power 9® principles—habits shared by the world’s longest living people, such as moving naturally, eating with a plant slant, and having a healthy social circle—into their offerings. The community’s numerous dining venues incorporated Blue Zones inspired choices into daily menu options. Various programming and activities for residents highlight the Power 9, strengthening Moorings Park’s mission to help both residents and their members age successfully.
