To become Blue Zones Project Approved, the Club at Mediterra implemented many healthy best practices, among which was their 5k challenge called “Conquer the Corso”. The Corso is Italian for “circle” and it’s the drive that goes all the way around the Mediterra Community. This includes a 10-week fitness program called “from Coach to Corso” to get everyone ready! The whole team is encouraged to participate in this fun program whether they walk, run or bike.

We all spend many hours at work every week and knew there were simple practices we could implement in the workplace to help people meet their goals."

"Our Running Club was one of the first in the school district to have a program open to K-5 students to participate in running twice a week in the morning before school. Students are also able to track any additional running their may do outside of school so they may qualify for events or awards such Kids on the Go’s “The Final Mile Run” event. Running Club members have also represented Big Cypress Elementary at events such the CCPS 5K. As of now, there are over 100 students participating in the BCE Running Club and they have accumulated over 5,800 miles of running. The Running Club is a symbol of how fitness based on Blue Zones’ principles has been a priority at BCE and that it helps students learn healthy habits early and often."
