Salinas Community Garden and Learning Lab Improvement and Expansion
The Blue Zones Project has been assisting the community garden in Natividad Creek Park for the last year and we are delighted to support its expansion and the fundraising efforts to create new initiatives.
The goal of the project is to provide long-term, reliable access to public space for residents to grow food, foster social connectedness, increase availability of healthy food for families, improve neighborhood quality of life, create a multi-generational learning space, and encourage physical activity. The community garden even has the potential of generating youth economic development opportunities.
The fundraising goal is $30,000 and will be used to:
- Purchase a shed to store all the gardening equipment and new seeds and plants
- Pay a part time garden coordinator that will support families growing their food and create an annual calendar of activities
- Organize great workshops with Xinampa and other community partners for the community
If this project resonates with you, there is currently a crowdfunding campaign underway on GoFundMe.
