"For me, the best thing about bike commuting is that you feel peaceful and ready for action when you get to work, maybe just from the fresh air and little bit of exertion. With the hills in Hilo, even a short commute like mine (5-6 miles round trip) gives you a built-in workout, which is great when you can't find time for other kinds of exercise that require planning. Since you have to go back and forth to work or school anyway, walking or biking is win-win on lots of levels, including environmental consciousness and simplicity. But above all, I appreciate that it gives me a clear head and positive outlook on my upcoming day."
