Kea’au High Schools Blue Zones Club has been busy! Congrats to the club officers and members for all the great activities!

Career Readiness with a Purpose!

Picture8-Nov-29-2022-09-03-37-3723-PM

As we head into 2023, it’s a wonderful time to reconnect with our sense of purpose. This is especially true for students as they consider some of life’s biggest decisions like “should I go to college or start a career?” “What area of study or career path is right for me?” By examining our purpose, we gain insights into the career areas we are most suited for and are most suited for us. By tuning into our sense of purpose, we can tap into our very own superpowers!

After taking a Purpose Workshop at Leilehua High School at the start of the school year, teacher Mr. Arneson wanted to explore the process with his Careers/Transition class. He invited Blue Zones Project Hawai‘i to provide a Purpose Workshop during which students could discover their gifts, articulate their values, and recognize their talents. Students learned about the environments that could nurture their gifts and explored careers within those environments while developing their own, unique purpose statements. Students will refer to these purpose statements throughout the year as they consider class selections and career paths.

Living on purpose is one of the Power 9® healthy lifestyle habits. Considering one’s purpose provides students insight about what activities and pursuits they resonate with most. By identifying their sense of purpose, students can optimize their remaining time in high school to cultivate their gifts and talents and use their purpose to make the big decisions they will be navigating over the next few years.
