Schools

Palmetto Elementary is committed to helping their students learn healthy habits at a young age by implementing Blue Zones Project principles. Congratulations on becoming a Blue Zones Project Approved school!
Participating in the Blue Zones Project has impacted Pelican Marsh in many ways. Our students participate in a weekly walking club, daily physical activities, and nutrition lessons that have led students to become increasingly more aware of the importance and enjoyment of a healthy life-style. Every Wednesday, students come to school and are excited to walk the perimeter of the hardcourt. They often count the number of laps they have walked each day and have the opportunity to share ideas and thoughts with their friends.

Congratulations to Lely Elementary on becoming a Blue Zones Project Approved school! They are the first school that earned approval in East Naples!
To become a Blue Zones Project Approved™ school, one element that Lorenzo Walker Technical High School and Lorenzo Walker Technical College implemented was to have their Wellness and Student Councils come up with fundraising activities that do not include bake sales or other traditional school fundraising mechanisms that include unhealthy foods. For example, the Freshman class raised nearly $1000 in one day by participating in National Walking Day and getting pledges signed by friends and families.
The Blue Zone values and commitment to living a healthy lifestyle encourages our students, families and faculty at Corkscrew Elementary to participate in great activities such as Kids on the Go! running club, the staff Water Challenge, eating healthy food in the cafeteria and creating a school environment that promotes physical well-being.
Organizations
The Joyful Yoga message is a perfect fit with many of the Blue Zones Power 9®. “Downshift” is what we do in any yoga class to release tension and stress. Aligning with the “Right Tribe” allows us to connect with each other and the world around us for support. “Move Naturally” reminds us that each body has singular abilities and challenges. We find the movement that makes sense or each person. “Plant Slant” puts our focus on eating a healthy diet to fuel our bodies to make and keep them strong. “Know Your Purpose” is an exploration each of us takes to enrich our lives for ourselves and those around us. All are an integral part of the teachings and offerings at Joyful Yoga which is why we felt the Blue Zones Project was just a natural fit for us.
The STARability Foundation wanted to participate with Blue Zones Project to teach our members the importance of making healthy choices for living a healthy and meaningful life. The mission of the STARability Foundation is to enhance the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families through education, social and recreational activities; advocating for employment and housing options; and raising community awareness.
"Naples Family Fitness wanted to participate with Blue Zones Project to be and represent a part of a more environmentally conscious community with the help of our members and your organization. We want to be a well-known destination for healthy living and succeed at it." Participating in Blue Zones Project reinforces what we stand for…staying active, eating healthy, and supporting each other to reach for a better lifestyle. Creating a community that supports healthy living is the most important contribution we could be a part of.
As a result of the Blue Zones Project, Countryside Golf & Country Club planted a community vegetable and herb garden. The garden is taken care of by community members, with guidance from one of our employees, and the herbs are used by our Chef in the kitchen to prepare meals from our members, including several of our Blue Zones Project Inspired menu items.
Restaurants
As part of becoming a Blue Zones Project Approved™ restaurant, Coast at Edgewater Hotel added Cauliflower Quinoa Cakes as a Blue Zones Project-inspired item on their dining menu and they became an instant success! Guests requested to speak with the chef about the recipe so frequently, they've decided to produce a recipe card for the any patrons who want to make the healthy and delicious item at home. Be sure to stop in!
