Artis—Naples’ Wellness Committee impacts their more than 233 employees and features such organization-wide amenities as weekly walking groups (Moais) that take employees from the worksite to the beach. Since partnering with Blue Zones Project, the committee has encouraged team members to use the stairs instead of the elevator in the administration building, with inspirational posters at each landing showing healthy ways to burn calories and move naturally. Artis—Naples’ Wellness Committee is also hosting educational seminars on a variety of health topics, ranging from mindfulness to disc golf. In addition, the organization hosts events that encourage employees to get to know co-workers outside of the office.

“Wellness for all of our team members is part of our company’s core mission,” said Communications Director Jonathan Foerster. “Our Wellness Committee and partnership with Blue Zones Project has inspired us to find new ways to encourage each Artis—Naples employee to become more active physically and mentally engaged in their own well-being.”

“The approval process really shined a light on the overall wellness of my employees,” said Chris Cole, owner of Foot Solutions Estero. After completing an organization well-being survey, team members realized how stress levels impacted their overall happiness, well-being, and job performance. They began talking about ways to relieve stress at work and walking more throughout the day. The company installed a “quiet room” for employees to relax whenever the opportunity arose or someone felt stressed.

“About a month later, I noticed my employees coming to work happier, with a stronger sense of purpose and motivation,” Cole said. “Stressful situations, like handling multiple customers at a time, are noticeably easier for my staff to address now. We plan to take the survey next quarter to quantify the results and see how far we’ve come.”
