According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2015 employed Americans worked on average 7.6 hours per day.

With nearly half of our waking hours spent at work, employers play a critical role in Blue Zones Project’s success by shaping the workplace environment to make the healthy choice the easy choice. Employers have the power to dramatically improve employee well-being in several ways that can also be transferred to the home environment.

Where do business leaders committed to improving their employee’s well-being start? Employee-led well-being committees are important to developing a plan that can address the challenges and health issues identified as important to employees. Together, with leadership, well-being committees can develop action plans that address policies and benefits, the food environment, the physical environment, and the engagement of social networks.
