Many Douglas County students got a little extra exercise on the way to school Wednesday morning. Several schools in the county participated in the National Walk and Bike to School Day.
About 200 students from Fir Grove Elementary School in Roseburg took part in that school's event. This year, buses dropped off students at the south entrance to the VA Medical Center, and some parents brought their kids to the area. Then teachers, parents and the kids all walked across the green bridge on Stewart Park Drive to the school.
