Ancient scripture says man can’t live on bread alone, but after visiting the third annual La ‘Ulu (Breadfruit Day) festival in Central Maui, it seems like man could live on breadfruit alone.
“For all the foods we’ve gotten used to over the years, breadfruit can do almost any of those things,” said Mike Opgenorth of Hana. “You can make pizza out of it. You can make fries out of it. All the stuff you eat every day, ulu can pretty much do it.”
