More than 1,200 cigarette butts were recovered last week in one afternoon during a cleanup at Klamath Falls city parks.
Merritt Driscoll, project manager at Blue Zones Project, and other volunteers conducted the cleanup Thursday afternoon.
The crew visited Veterans Park, Kit Carson Park and Mills/Kiwanis Park as part of their efforts to spread the word about discarded cigarette butts.
“We think parks should be a family-friendly environment,” Driscoll said. “Cigarette litter is a huge problem.”
