Conger and Blue Zones Project Klamath Falls celebrated this designation on Thursday, March 15, 2018. The celebration began at 7:55 a.m. with activities including a Walking School Bus where a large group of children walked to Conger Elementary under the supervision of trusted adults.
Walking School Buses encourage exercise and fun while connecting kids to their neighborhoods. The event culminated with a Celebration Assembly complete with prizes, banners, KUHS Band, Pelican Pete and a ribbon cutting.
At the festivities were Jessie Hecocta, Blue Zones Project Organization Lead; Julie Bainbridge, Principal of Conger Elementary; and Krystle Hernandez, Southern Oregon University Intern, as officiants.
