If someone can’t pay a bill or an unexpected emergency comes up, there’s often one option in their mind: lower their food budget.
“That’s the first place people will take from to make sure other bills are paid,” said Niki Sampson, executive director of the Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank in Klamath Falls.
Those who work closely with the issue of food shortages and food insecurity in Klamath and Lake counties say that the amount of food insecurity in each area is down when compared to previous years. Still, they admit more could always be done and that the need persists.
