Bikers and walkers in the Green District will soon see work begin on major improvements along Carnes Road after Douglas County received a $2 million grant from the Oregon Transportation Commission.
The grant, which was announced last Friday, comes from the Safe Routes to School program. It will allow the county to construct new sidewalks, add bike lanes and improve crossings in the area near Green Elementary School.
