A program for introducing and encouraging healthy lifestyles has slashed childhood obesity rates in Redondo Beach, and an official from the L.A. County Department of Public Health said that those results and the program will be showcased around the county.
A report presented to the Beach Cities Health District Board of Directors, based on DPH’s analysis of BCHD data, showed that childhood obesity rates among elementary school-age students have dropped from about 20 percent in 2007 to 6.4 percent today.
