A police escort blocked parts of Bonita Beach Road for local VIPs Wednesday morning. But instead of a politician or superstar, these important people were elementary students walking to school.
About 100 Bonita Springs Elementary School students marched a mile-and-a-half on the sidewalk along one of the busiest roads in the city as part of International Walk to School Day.
Christian Barbosa, 9, was ready to get going.
“It’s way better than sitting in class,” he said. “Walking is easy.”
