Most working-age adults spend about one-third of the day at the office, making it challenging to reach the recommended 150 minutes of weekly moderate-intensity physical activity.
According to the World Health Organization, this activity is vital to a long and healthy life; it reduces the risk of several chronic diseases, premature mortality, anxiety and depression.
Yet the 2017 Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index survey showed that only 46 percent of adults in Dodge County exercised at least 30 minutes a day, three or more days a week. A study published by the Institute for Work and Health showed that when employees have access to fitness amenities, including pleasant places to walk and wellness programs at work, there is an increased likelihood that they are active, even in their leisure time.
