WORKSITE Wellness Spotlight– MAY 2022
Blue Zones Project is partnering with employers across Hawai‘i to create healthier work environments that empower employees to be happier, healthier and more productive. We invite employers, employees, and anyone interested in worksite well-being here in Hawai‘i to check out our blog and newsletter topics that highlight Blue Zones Project Approved worksites on a periodic basis, along with helpful well-being resources that may be beneficial to your organization. This month, we shine a spotlight on KualoaGrown!
KUALOAGROWN
Eating Local Has Never Been So Easy: Featuring KualoaGrown and Ways to Access Local Produce Anywhere in Hawai'i
Nestled at the foot of the majestic Ko'olaupoko Mountains lies one of Oahu’s many treasures – Kualoa Ranch, a Blue Zones Project Approved® worksite. Known to many for its jungle settings as seen in blockbusters, such as Jurassic Park and Jumanji, Kualoa Ranch has so much to offer to locals and visitors alike. Did you know? They have their very own farmers’ market called KualoaGrown that’s open four days a week from Thursday – Sunday, 10AM – 5PM! Here you’ll find an assortment of fresh fruits and veggies, kalo (taro), breadfruit, tropical flowers, chocolate, and all kinds of other amazing products from over 20 different local producers!
KualoaGrown isn’t just for food enthusiasts – it’s a benefit to the surrounding community, including the fine folks who work at Kualoa Ranch. Blue Zones Project always celebrates access to fresh local produce, and in fact, offering a farmers' market or CSA (community-supported agriculture subscription) is one of our worksite well-being best practices.
Don’t live near a farmers' market but still want to buy local? No problem! For those on Oahu, check out FarmLinkHawaii.com, an online farmers’ market that delivers across the island and accepts SNAP-EBT, including Da Bux for 50% off local produce items! Use promo code BZPHAWAII for $10 off your next order!*
Don’t live on Oahu but still love local? You’re in luck too! Check out this comprehensive spreadsheet courtesy of gofarmhawaii.org that lists ways to access locally grown foods and flowers across Kauai, Hawai‘i, Maui, and Molokai.
