WORKSITE Wellness Spotlight– JUNE 2022

Blue Zones Project is partnering with employers across Hawai‘i to create healthier work environments that empower employees to be happier, healthier and more productive. We invite employers, employees, and anyone interested in worksite well-being here in Hawai‘i to check out our blog and newsletter topics that highlight Blue Zones Project Approved worksites on a periodic basis, along with helpful well-being resources that may be beneficial to your organization. This month, we shine a spotlight on hi•arch•y llp!

hi•arch•y llp

hi•arch•y llp's commitment to health & wellness carries over into every aspect of their work, including their own team.

hi•arch•y llp is a Blue Zones Project ApprovedTM worksite on Oahu, Hawaii, that focuses on architecture, planning, and interiors. hi•arch•y has pioneered the movement of health and wellness initiatives in Hawaii’s built environment with a commitment towards sustainability. Over the span of their 15-years serving the people of Hawaii, they have focused on design solutions that reduce maintenance, increase longevity, and ensure occupant comfort and safety, while creating environments that foster productivity and well-being—all of which benefit a business’s bottom line.

hi•arch•y’s commitment to health & wellness carries over into every aspect of their work, including their own team. As a Blue Zones Project Approved worksite since 2019, hi•arch•y is dedicated to making sure their employees feel safe and comfortable in the workplace. The company culture encourages a healthier lifestyle and work-life balance through programs such as flexible work schedules and workspaces, provisioning Blue Zones Project Approved food and beverages, and incentivizing the pursuit of educational development as well as physical and mental health.

At the onset of the pandemic, hi•arch•y jumped into action to form the Hawaii Healthy Building Experts (HHBE) group along with their partners at Great Places & Spaces. The group focused on immediate and permanent ways for people to retrofit their spaces to adapt to the climate of the pandemic by presenting in virtual seminars, publishing newsletters, and creating a Covid-19 database on hi•arch•y’s website dedicated to providing the public with science-based articles and links to official government portals. Attributing to their roots in health & wellness, hi•arch•y found themselves uniquely positioned to tackle the virus as it directly impacts the health and well-being of occupants in office environments. In 2020, hi•arch•y was selected to lead the achievement of Hawai‘i’s 1st WELL Health-Safety Rating for the American Savings Bank Campus in Downtown, Honolulu.

With summer approaching and Covid-19 restrictions lifted, hi•arch•y anticipates the return of their Half-Day Fridays—a wellness initiative the company participates in during their summer months. Each Friday, employees are encouraged to work a half-day with the remaining “work” hours dedicated to team development through optional activities such as site tours, service projects, hiking, and pau hana. They hope to resume their Half-Day Fridays with events this summer that support their dedication to health, wellness, and environmental sustainability.
