4M Schools Give Back to Honor The National Day of Service and Remembrance

Students from schools in Mānoa, Makiki, Mōʻiliʻili and McCully Paid tribute to service members, veterans, and the community in honor of the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.

More than 200 students from Maryknoll School and Washington Middle School conducted a park clean-up at Makiki District Park and Punahou Square Park on Monday, September 10th to beautify our parks and celebrate our community. Honolulu City Councilmember Carol Fukunaga was present to thank the students and share about the importance of community parks.

Additionally, 700 students from Maryknoll School and Mānoa Elementary School made appreciation cards for current service members and veterans. The cards included healthy lifestyle tips from Blue Zones Project principles. Over 200 students at Stevenson Middle School and Washington Middle School also conducted campus beatification project during this week-long project.

Blue Zones Project and Maryknoll School are working with the nonprofit Youth Service America to lead this National Day of Service and Remembrance.
