while working together to make a thatched fence.

Keiki get creative with painting rocks to decorate the gardens.

Volunteers pull weeds, shovel dirt, weedwack and clear debris.

On Saturday, August 13 Blue Zones Project held its first volunteer event in partnership with Windward Community College.  Nearly 70 volunteers attended to move naturally, live purposefully, and learn about traditional Hawaiian malama aina practices.  After volunteers enjoyed a delicious lunch made by Uala Leaf Cafe, a Blue Zones Project Approved™ restaurant on campus, while they listened to the Blue Zones story.

Mahalo to Windward Community College for hosting and sharing their important work with us.  And most importantly, thank you to all who volunteered to dedicate their Saturday to give back!

On Saturday, July 30, Blue Zones Project transformed the Kailua Town Center parking garage into a well-being celebration in Koolaupoko! More than 40 vendors in Koolaupoko came out in support of our Power 9 lifestyle principles toward living longer, better.  About 400 people attended the event to enjoy delicious 'Plant Slant' food, FREE massages, keiki yoga, gardening and cooking demos, local entertainment, Wine @ Five happy hour and a bike rodeo.

Many thanks to all of our vendors and volunteers who helped make our first community event in Kailua a success!
