Using trash grabbers and gloves, about 50 community members removed cans, syringes and plastic bags from along the banks of the South Umpqua River at Stewart Park on Monday.

It was the second annual Martin Luther King Jr. Service Day River Cleanup sponsored by Umpqua Watersheds, using volunteers from the Wolf Creek Job Corps, Casa de Belen, Blue Zones Project and other local organizations.
