Achieving Blue Zones Project Approved™ status is a wonderful accomplishment. Congratulations to the following organizations who are helping to make the healthy choice, the easier choice in SWFL.
Florida Southwestern College became the first state college to become Blue Zones Project recognized! To become recognized, the school offered healthy snacks at events and fundraisers, planted a community garden and are a tobacco free campus. They got their students actively involved in planning a Random Acts of Kindness volunteer day and offered student yoga classes and group soccer well-being events.
C3 Church
C3 Church became a Blue Zones Project approved Faith-Based Organization by offering bike racks to encourage natural movement, being a tobacco-free site, encouraging their fellowship participate in volunteer activities, and social activities like paddle boarding and kayaking. For the youth, they hosted a kids field day and promoted healthy eating habits from a young age.
Worksites
On Sept. 25 Hodges University celebrated being the first university in SWFL to become a Blue Zones Project Approved Worksite! To participate with Blue Zones Project they encouraged their employees to move naturally by adding standing desks, hosting standing meetings and displaying walking routes around campus. They offered plant-based cooking demonstrations and host potluck groups. They also created a strong culture of volunteerism and contributing to the community.
